The British Business Centre in Beijing hosts the combined teams of the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) and the British Chamber of Commerce in China (Britcham). We help UK companies grow and develop their business in China, via a network of 13 offices in China and 10 in the UK.

Director, The British Business Centre, Beijing
We are seeking a dynamic director to oversee the combined operations of both membership organisations within the British Business Centre in Beijing.
The successful candidate will have the experience and passion to drive the further development of the two organisations, realising the benefits of the combined offering. This is a senior level position and the job-holder will be a highly credible representative for CBBC and Britcham among senior members of the British business community and other key stakeholders.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Drive growth in membership and services against targets.
• Build and develop effective relationships and high levels of visibility with member companies, and with key British and Chinese stakeholders.
• Lead further development of the China-Britain Business Council and British Chamber of Commerce teams in Beijing and across China
• Work with the team to provide advice and consultation services to UK businesses of all sizes and levels of experience in China.
• Ensure the smooth running of the British Business Centre, including the maintenance of office administration systems and financial reporting.
We are looking for a motivational leader with extensive experience of working and managing teams in China, who understands the challenges faced by British companies working in this market and who really believes in the value of membership organisations. The successful candidate could be an expatriate or a Chinese national with fluency in English.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
• Proven track record in a management role with an international company or organisation, preferably with a services background.
• Proactive approach to building business relationships at senior level.
• Experience in consultative selling and business development.
• Prior experience of developing motivated, results-oriented teams.
• Good understanding of the concerns of and issues faced by UK companies doing business in China.
• A commitment to service excellence, including effective use of technology.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including fluent written and spoken English and fluent spoken Chinese.
