We are an organization that consults and assists Chinese high school students in their college applications to the US/UK/Canada/etc. We're still looking for part time consultants (we are seeking full time consultants as well) to help us in the office. Job Summary:
The Foreign Expert Consultant is responsible for fulfilling the many duties that may be required of him or her (details below) according to company standards. The foreign expert is a specialist in the college application process of foreign countries. This individual will spend a majority of time meeting clients and editing college application documents. The company expects the foreign expert to confidently represent the company and the position.
Essential Functions:
1. College Application Documents Editing - translating, editing, finalizing student essays, resumes, recommendation letters, and other miscellaneous documents.
2. One-on-one Student Consultation - meeting with students for approximately an hour during weekend to discuss school choice, how to spend summer, which activities to continue (and which to discontinue), and other tips/advice.
Job Qualifications:
Required:
-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
-Substantial living and studying experience from a Western country.
-Native English speaker.
-Proficient English writing skills.
-Reliable character.
-Strong Microsoft Operating System and Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
-Advanced Mandarin Chinese skills required for interoffice communication (Reading, Speaking, and Listening skills).
Preferred:
-Bachelors degree in a writing intensive major (English literature, history, political science, philosophy, psychology, journalism, etc.) from a prestigious (top 20) university/Liberal Arts College.
-Substantial living and studying experience from a Western country.
-Native English speaker with substantial experience in journalism, editing, copyediting, writing, publications, or has work experience in other writing intensive industries.
-Reliable character with strong references.
-Fluent Mandarin Chinese (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Translating, and Writing skills).
-Experienced with Chinese edition Microsoft Operating System and Office suite.
**Ideally we're looking for someone who is passionate with helping Chinese students study abroad**
Compensation:
Fairly competitive for the work. Although it doesn't pay as well as most English teaching job, it offers several hidden benefits such as giving you a great opportunity to learn about Chinese youth. Additionally, while most English teaching jobs require you to speak English, this position will give you a great opportunity to improve your Chinese.
